if the world were a plateau
how boring that would be,
no mountains, no oceans,
no natural majesty.
nothing to offend,
and nothing to praise.
just flat upon flat,
on which to cast your gaze.
if your life was a plateau,
how boring that would be,
no trials, no triumphs,
no natural victory.
no one to love,
and no one to lose.
just you and the bore
of nothing to confuse.
does this sound delicious,
enticing or appealing?
a world without passion,
a life without feeling?
so let the mountains calm,
and the waves do their healing,
let the rhythm of earth
become your life’s breathing.
cry with the rain
and rise with the sun,
open your heart
and let the doing be done.
